Route2002

Route2002 is the evolution of Jeep’s popular Jeep 101 event that originally started at CampJeep. It’s since grown to include Chrysler and Dodge vehicles. Route2002 is an all-encompassing test-drive experience with everything from off-road driving (Jeep and Dodge), to on-road comparisons, to video games (Jeep 4×4 EVO), to a rock climbing wall, to concept and image vehicles. The event lasts about 4 days at each venue, starting on a thursday and ending on sunday, and attendance is free (can’t beat that!).

The Jeep offroad course featured a WJ, two KJ’s, and a few TJ’s, including two Inca Gold Rubicons. Since we didn’t get the chance to drive a Rubicon at Camp Jeep this past summer, we jumped at the chance to drive one this time. The offroad course looked almost identical to the one they’d set up at Camp Jeep, which made sense as we later found out the guy that does the offroad courses for Camp Jeep also does the ones for Route2002. The on-road comparison driving course featured two WJ’s (both with the 4.7L HO) and two KJ’s, along with a pair of Nizzan X-Terra’s to compare against the Jeeps.

Our club, Jeeps Of North Texas, was invited by the folks running Route2002 to bring out our Jeeps for an impromptu Show-n-Shine outside of the Jeep section of the event, they even setup a “Best of Show” award for the club where the folks running the Jeep section voted on their favorite rigs. We didn’t win, but we still had a great time.
