Starting in the morning the clutch is fine. After driving for a half hour or so it starts to not release all the way. It gets progressively worse to a point where it's very difficult to shift into gear and at a stand still, the idle dips way down from the clutch grabbing. If I rev the engine it will move the car. But if it sits for a few hours, it's fine again...until it's driven for a half hour or so.

Is this symptomatic of a slave cylinder going bad? Master cylinder maybe? I would think that it would go down and stay down but I've never dealt with them before. I've always had manual clutch forks. It grabs normal when in gear so I'm sure the pressure plate is fine.

'99 XJ, 4.5" long arm system, typical double shear trac bar drop bracket, adjustable trac bar has poly bushing on 'frame' end, slopped out heim on axle end... Tired of the clunk...

This may be a dumb question, but I'm trying to determine if a flex joint or heim is actually necessary on one end of a trac bar? Is there really enough axle "rotation" to bind a pair of bushings, be they poly or otherwise? It seems most aftermarket trac bars utilize some sort of flex joint at one end or the other, but I ran across the units from Iron Rock the other day and it appears they use typical poly bushings on both ends, and speak to the fact that their trac bar will not bind in their literature. Anyone have specific feedback to fact/fiction here? I'd LOVE to ditch the heim joint and go with a bushing to get rid of the damn clunk :bang:

Well with the amount of money and work it required to get it back up and running and pass emissions, I simply added another Jeep to the stable (XJ).

Over the last month, I have been working on getting the TJ road ready again, I replaced the old with a header and high flow mandrel bent 2.5in .pipes. Over the past week I have been running it and noticing that the MPG's have drastically decreased (8mpg) Any suggestion as to what could be causing this drastic fall? The CEL's that previously been plaguing my Jeep due to the failing exhaust have since been cleared.
Current setup:
4.0
32RH
NP231
3.73
Could use some insight from you Jeep veteran's. I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport with 76,000 original miles and I've taken very good care of it. With that in mind, I have a problem that won't get fixed. First, I had rust coming through the driver's floor pan and I opted to replace both pans and that worked out great. About four years ago, the four doors and rocker panels started showing exterior rust and I had them repaired at a reputable body shop. The rust started showing itself again last fall and I went back for another round of body work.

Well, the rust is showing again on the doors and rocker panels and I'm at a loss as to the best way to fix this. Basically, I'm looking for some suggestions. The truck is otherwise in good shape and I'm really happy with it and don't want to part with it yet.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
