This is what she looked like 11 years ago when I purchased it, and took it home to my folk's house in NW PA before I went overseas for a year. She was a basket, the PO had installed a homemade wooden center console, pick-and-pull grey bucket seats out of who knows what... everything under the hood was stock, it still had the smog stuff hooked up. And, it had that terrible and freaking heavy ACME top and doors on it.
http://www.jeepin.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1508183186 And this was taken on go topless day, my son and I headed to a baseball game that morning. I've screwed with it quite a bit since then, COMP cam and valve train, MC2100 carb with a 2 barrel intake from a later year, upgraded a bunch of wiring, relay's in the headlights, fog lights, windshield lights, a CB in the dash, a Tuffy center console, Bestop seats, front and rear, front and rear brakes, and lock out hubs. It always seams to be something, it's currently in the garage without an oilpan as I attempt to clean the mess underneath it from an oilpan gasket leak. http://www.jeepin.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1508184163 |

5 or 6 years ago when I had the engine torn down to the block, I really should have. I kick myself every time I have to fiddle with a carburetor that I should have went to a 4.0 head with FI. Back then, I think I was going to buy a dual plane intake and put a 4bbl on it. I never did that either. Hindsight, right? |
|
Holy crap!!!! $1660.06??? For just the head, for that money I would rather buy this combo;
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-2900/overview/ https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ofy-5999dp |
but that combo could yet make another 50-75hp with the head ... even a stock head.
actually, i forget what car tv show did it, but they tried a self learning EFI throttle body on a 4.0 and it failed miserably. then Rock Hound Racing, the 222 buggy, runs a holy MPFI self learning computer to run his 4.7 stroker and i'm not sure he's ever made it thru a full weekend without if failing somehow. multiple iterations and he's now going back to a stock 4.0 computer. if doing EFI, rip it from a junkyard jeep. |

Thanks, that's all good info that I did not know. I'll save that for moving forward... or maybe I'll just do a Mercedes diesel swap :pimp: |

That's a nice clean TJ!
Got some Savvy Off Road half doors last fall, just before the snow came...put them on this year and drove around a bit to see if I liked them before I spent cash on painting them. https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...83&oe=5BB9BC01 https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...8b&oe=5B7719D9 LOVE them...all but the idea that they don't have a seal, so using the uppers was kinda silly if all the rain would come in the lowers. Anyway, JUST got a quote on paint and was too busy w/ house work and graduation prep so they didn't get painted...GLAD I DIDN'T!! Came across these last week - MOPAR doors  Guy sold his JK for a JL and had these, no uppers. Well, I already have uppers, thank you! Only problem, again, they need paint. I tossed them on to see how they fit, and they are amazing!! Now I can TOTALLY use my uppers. That means, Savvy doors are for sale. Funny thing is, I just found a fix for the seals that surprisingly looks good, and it's cheap, but I'm still keeping the Mopar doors  At the moment it's the Calico Cat  https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...1d&oe=5BBA787C Black, Anvil, White...my kids love it, I think it looks ridic, but I'll probably drive it like this a few days before I tear the doors down for paint :roflmao: Again, those Savvy doors are sweet, but how can a guy pass up on a unicorn set of Mopars :p |
So how much do you want for the Savvy doors?
|
By the time you’d pay shipping, you’d be better off going through Northridge 4x4 via new w/o mirrors. Unless you had a Tank Green JK :p
In all seriousness, $900 would do it on here, but locally I’m asking $1300 OBO. Personally, if you do order a set, DON’T get the TJ mirrors - only thing I don’t like about them. |

Yes please. Sadly I think that trip was the last real technical wheeling I've done. Been to the dunes a few times, played in my yard, ran over a minivan, but besides that it's just been street use.
|
:(. I say its time for another outing . I'm always down to question whether you'll clear a branch before destroying your windshield

Kurt, nice wheelin shot...love that trail, Kane Creek has become one of our favs!
JJ, awesome to see your new baby on the trail already, but those damn side steps  |
I started to pull those off the day of the run, but as crazy as it may be, the bolts were all rusted....one broke, one wouldn't move. I made the decision to move on to disconnecting the rear swaybar instead.
I don't like the steps, but I do use them....although their days are numbered. I did get my new top on, and tinted my slider windows too!! https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...9e&oe=5BAFE0C8 https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...16&oe=5BA3F0B7 |
