KOH Trip - have spare room in the RV!
So i just booked flights, rental 4dr tacoma to get around, and rented an RV to go to KOH this year. was going to be 4 guys, now it's 2, so i got a smaller RV but there is still a 3rd bed available if you wanted to split costs with us.
Tuesday Feb 5 --> Saturday Feb 9th RV+Taco is ~$1300 ... split 2 or 3 ways my round trip flight was $284 into LAX (must land before 11:30am on the 5th, and must depart after 12:30pm on the 9th) plus gas/food/swag (huge walmart trip after picking up the RV to stock up) |
Dude...if I wasn't headed to Hawaii the week after I'd seriously hit that up, it's on the bucket list!
|
You and a bunch of other lame guys
|
LOL....the fact that I have the vacation I do and go where I go annually, lame might not be the best way to describe it, but OK
See you in Moab :dunno: |

Who else is in? Probably won't have the chance to go this time with starting the new job and all.
|
I need more vacation time. Between ejs(hopefully for a few days) ua003, a dance competition In Wisconsin and maybe going to montana next year I'm tapped out. That would be fun though.

ugh, someone who wants to go should be able to!
|
Im trying!

Is KoH something I can rock up to in my 4x4 Expedition which is stock other than a 2" lift and have some fun? It's not far from me. Never been. I think an air mattress would fit in the back just fine, too.

bump ... still have a spot available! who's coming with!?!?
|
got a 3rd guy to fill the spare bed! headed out tomorrow
supposed to be ~28deg every night, and ~46deg every day, but with sun. that is colder than i had hoped. |
Was Hornicator your 3rd guy?
Have a fun trip! When I go, I want to make a whole week out of it if possible....would love to see the shootout and the UTV race as well as the main race stuff. When a few of the guys from MTU went out for a bachelor party, Phil woke up under an RV, with no shoes, wallet, phone, etc. in the middle of the night. He had to find his way back to their camper van in that condition. I guess it was less than enjoyable  |
Well, my plans for this year fell through, rallied til the very last minute and they just couldn't get done.
That said, my plan is to take the full week next year and skip EJS. I was going to skip it this year for my summer trip but got it worked in there, so next year is the change up season, a year w/o the 20+ hour drive and a week of my not breaking anything  Have fun, post pix! |

I'm really hoping to be in a position to do this next year. Roadtrip? |

Mark it on your calendar! |
I feel like I need to make this happen now.
Fly into Vegas for a night and then drive to The Hammers perhaps? |

I'll be out there Wednesday later afternoon. It sucks that I'm going to miss most of the Everyman Challenge race. I will be sleeping out of my rental jeep, very minimal on the stuff I'll have as I have to carry all my gear on the plane. Quote:

OK, enjoy...I see Phil backed out as well and went on vaca w/ his wife instead  Driving out next year, dammit, dude...you think you'll have a racer by then  Either way, I'm in, but Moab will be out. Of course, :f2: you! |
oh hell yeah! 10/10 would do again
|
Man, so pissed I missed this year...but, again, 2020 is a go!!
|
how many ppl can we get to go? can we get enough ppl to get enough RVs to circle the campers?
|
I know there is a group of us from the later years in the 4x4 club that are trying to go for 2020.

wonder if we order a bunch of RVs at the same time if we get a deal |
The views from hiked up into the hills were amazing, could see for miles. and at night, that's not a city, that's only the headlights and campers of HammerTown!
the party one night at Backdoor was pretty good. a few rolled, a few broke, one bouncer who couldn't get thru the ppl and broken **** BLARING "move bitch" on a really good radio. not hundreds, but thousands of ppl. the race was awesome, saw all the chit go down on jackhammer for the 4400 race. also watched the EMC from Chocolate Thunder, but got to back door too late. there was even UTV demos. Polaris, Yami, and Can-Am all had FREE guided tour test drives thru the desert. something about beating on someone else's rig at 60+ was goooood. the can-am was the most smooth, but the RZR i thought was more sporty, while the yami with paddle shifting was kinda chunky. https://i.imgur.com/1Czbexz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2fZT4QT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TV5IRGU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dhf29fm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XgJxKOw.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MnJW4uz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5es46WZ.jpg |
I finally got the info about Paiva and Stinger Motorsport's issues...
They chased fuel system trouble for 3 days. Turns out a guy back in Michigan used anti seize when installing the fuel filters and some of the aluminum made its way into the injectors and messed them up. They finished 28th overall despite no pre-running or qualifying sessions. I can't wait to get out there. |
Desolate, but for one week a year!
