Project Jeep for my Cousin:
After watching the couple of recent Jeep projects my cousin has taken an interest in owning a Jeep and learning cars. PHD chemist, smart guy, and doesn't know a whole lot about cars, but he is eager and willing to learn. Currently drives a TDI jetta he likes, so he has some interest in vehicles already beyond appliance cars.
So we picked this up for $700. Its rough, dirty, etc, but it drove home whistling like a train :roflmao::roflmao: Has brand new 31s on it, lifted. wrecked, and nasty interior. Drivers seat needs replaced, headliner is totally sagged and needs recovered. its a project, but he says he doesn't care how it looks and just wants something reliable. So the plan is to get it on the road. Make sure maintenance wise everything is taken care of, and anything not mechanically up to par is replaced. https://youtu.be/QZJRyeYNXTw |

Gap alignment is pretty good, but not perfect, but I dont GAF on this thing, its better than many jeeps out there that have been repaired, even professionally. https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1702.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1703.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1704.jpg Headliner was a goner: https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...052F57FCCC.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1731.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1733.jpg Combination of vacuum and stiff brush to clear off old foam backer from headliner: https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1734.jpg Cousin decided to do something custom: https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1736.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1738.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1742.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1743.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1745.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1744.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_1746.jpg So it was finally back on the road, and real quick from driving it around we heard some wicked driveline noise, rear end was making pinion bearing noise(8.25 is kinda known for that), and the front was making some wicked clanks and bangs, even some binding when you first started in reverse. So it needed a front and rear end. I bought a 2wd parts Jeep(blue limited) with no title, it had a 8.25 with LSD. In a single day we pulled the bad rear end from the green one, pulled the LSD rear from the blue, installed the bad from the green in the blue parts, pulled my good 8.25 from my yellow Jeep, installed the LSD rear in the yellow jeep, and installed my old rear end into my cousins Jeep. Round robin of axle installs. https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_2357.jpg And then with the rear end replaced it was clear how much noise the front end was making. So we picked up a high pinion D30 front at the junkyard and got to swapping: https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_2633.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_2638.jpg https://colorado4wheel.com/images/Me...e/IMG_2637.jpg |
