Nice! Did you keep they factory transmission or did you swap in something modern?

Transmission was the reason this all is happening. It's a 04 lq4 and a 4l80e. Swapped inputs and kept the np208. Tcase already had fixed outputs and 32 spline. |

Finally back for vacation. Now can confirm, does do burnouts. Need to button a few things up, hopefully video this weekend
Hard to say no when you have 90% of the parts to throw it in laying around the garage taking me longer than I wanted though |

That is awesome! I love how a broken trans resulted in a complete swap of both engine and transmission

Put about 40 miles on it yesterday. Clocking ring on the tcase is puking fluid, but runs good. Power is awesome and its nice to be able to cruise the highway at 1700 rpm instead of 3000. I just put the motor straight in from the junkyard didnt even change the plugs or wires. Well I'm going to have to change the wires. A couple are arching. Need to redo how the gas pedal is mounted. Foot gets tired after awhile. Making it a little lower should make it more comfy. Only other thing is the exhaust is loud. I reused the old exhaust from the amc and made a new y pipe. Sounds good at idle/part throttle but wot it's too loud.

I like quiet. My buggy is loud. I run a small "muffler" I bought from Tim back in the day (more of a resonator really). I'll be trying to put a Hushpower II or something in some day so it's not no ungodly at 2k+ rpms. My 7.3L is loud, I'll be doing a full interior 3 stage sound deadening when I get the change. Hours upon hours of towing in this, and quieter would be pretty nice. My 2001 XJ I'm building, I did a 3 stage sound deadening, and put on a quieter muffler. This will soon be my DD, I'd prefer to hear the new stereo system I'm putting in over the road noise and motor Then again, if I had a V8 for fun...it would probably be a little different story |

Is it just at 2k rpm or is it just loud overall? If it's droney at a certain RPM you can use a quarter wave resonator to knock out that frequency. It usually lowers the overall volume too. |

I plan on fitting something else without too much of a headache. But it's so farkin' down low on the priorities list right now. Hell, I need to get the thing fixed first. |

I have a magnaflow on the truck y pipe 2 1/2" all the way back. But it is short. Dumps before the rear tire. It's great at idle and cruising, with absolutely no drone. But wot it is pretty loud. I'm getting old (j10 is my dd)
Justin did you use some sort of kit for the sound deadening for the xj? Mine could use less road noise inside |

Finally have a phone where the screen works go enough to post pics. Just random pics throughout the process.
Y pipe. Just used pieces of a 2.5" universal kit summit sells. Cut 2 bends in half and notched them together. Had to get f body flanges. Using ls1 exhaust manifolds. Wiring harness has a ton of hours into it. Seems I had to move just about everything Now more motivated to finish the waggy. |

i tried really hard to find an exhaust setup that sounded good and wasn't loud on the vette for Mel ... eventually went with full straight pipes behind the cat's and she loved it. sounds amazing but is quite loud when you get after it. after putting another 18k miles on it though, she does want some resonators to cut out the 1600-1800 drone at light load part throttle. (going up hill on the highway) last week my sister was over with her 2 little girls, Mel left for work at 5am, starting the vette woke up one who woke the other who woke my sister who went nutz
that reminds me i need to order parts ... |

i like em loud, i HATE drone
if doing over 2 hours at at time, i'll concede to enjoying a quieter ride. |
