Sorry I didnt make it for a beer, but Im pretty sure you were happy when I showed up with this....
![]() ![]() I'll do what I can on the 14B machining but Im pretty sure thats big no go. Im not even sure that would fit on the Webb either. Other than that, no worries on the rest. Just gotta figure out a suitable time. You can grab that aluminum sheet I set aside for you too. And if it crosses your mind, you should maybe let me borrow your midshaft to take measurements. I would like a print prepared if need be.

Ok so a little update...
I haven't fallen on the face of the earth per se. Graduated May 13th with my B.S. in Mech. Eng. and Minor in Biomedical engineering . Landed a job in Longmont for the time being working on electronics. But funny how life can throw ya curveballs...especially in a nearly 3 year relationship ![]() (see my AWIB thread for clarification)...so needless to say motivation for anything had been severly lacking for a bit...but its starting to come back little by little now.As far as time goes...between commuting to work, work, and the gym everyday it hasn't left me with much time during the week to work on the rig...but that should hopefully change soon. Been using the weekends lately to more escape and just have some fun again with life to help everything. Did get my steering (minus orbital mounted) done the other day...really happy with it. I'll try and get pictures posted up of it here soon I've got another XJ i'm trying to drop a motor in to get sold that ahs been taking a little bit of precedence over the buggy...but work on the buggy should pick up pretty heftily here soon...I wanna WHEEL GATDAMNIT!!! |

Well...a *little* bit of an update:
Got this little beauty done FINALLY...been slowly working at it forever now. ![]() ![]() Sandblasted and painted the case and got it re-fitted with AA HD Rear Output, JB HD Front output, new 1310 front CV yoke, rear HAD Toyota Flange, a complete rebuild kit, all new bolts, and ground out the shift rail. ![]() Got this sucker in the other night...and yes it HAS to be clocked like that for my setup. I won't BEGIN to tell you the nightmare that kinda caused me redrilling the Tranny adapter thingy. ![]() ![]() Next up is getting the D300 all bolted up in there, then measuring for my rear DS so Jess at HAD can get me one made up as well as ordering and getting the cable shifters setup.

Wow man. That is all I have to say. I just spent an hour an a half reading every word in this thread and I am dying for more. The fab is just incredible. I am going for my bachelor in Mechanical Engineering come next September and I cant wait to get myself a place with a garage so I can start doing this kind of thing.
Keep up the awesome work. Looking forward to seeing it when it is done! (Subscribed)

getting some ideas from your build for my radiator mount. How do you keep the steel so flat when dimple dieing? It always distorts like crazy with my dies.

There's 3 ways to me (without having a HUGE press on the order of 100 tons): 1.) Use the way Damon linked to, which honestly even then doesn't get it perfect. 2.) Do it while its part of the much bigger peice/sheet still so it wont be able to warp. 3.) Do it when its already welded in place (mine have a hole in them so with a through bolt and a little elbow grease it will dimple it). |

'Nother update:
Got the boatsides "done". Still need to do a hair bit of cutting, fully weld it up, and dimple the holes. The boatsides will be covered in 1/2" UHMW later on in case anyone was wondering. ![]() ![]() ![]() Got the cutting brakes and brake pedal mounted: ![]() ![]() Better shot of how exactly its mounted...and the engine cage bar (engine cage and front ORI remounting to come soon) ![]() ![]() Got some of the cables mounted and run. Man WHAT a PITA that was! ![]() Working on getting the rest of the driver's floor done: ![]() Now what you see in this picture should help...ohh...get the motor fired in the next couple weeks! Its two orders, one from Delcity and another place I would highly recommend, VTEWarehouse. VTEWarehouse had by far the best pricing on BUS bars, covers, and more. In the picture are two kill switches (one of which I painted). ![]() And last but not least, and overall shot of how she sits currently: ![]() Sorry for the blurry pics

Looks great man! I love Del City. Ever wire and switch on my jeep came from them. Hard to beat the prices. Are the kill switches designed to kill the alternator as well? I ran into that issue to pass tech and ended up going with one from Joe's Racing.

I won't have it setup to kill the alternator (not exactly sure how I would offhand). My plan was to have one busbar be the major ground bar with most things tied to it (i.e. the fuel pump). There would be two kill switches to the ground line in series (one by the battery for someone outside the vehicle to reach, and one inside the passengers could reach)...therefore if either one was flipped it would essentially kill the fuel pump and therefore starve/kill the motor (as well as everything grounded to it) Thanks Still have to get the shifters made up (can you say custom machined/knurled grips mounted on Stainless Steel rod) ...and get the 231 shifting linkage setup. I bought three cables from Widwest Cables...but will probably only use two as I think my 231 shift linkage is just going to be mechanical (since it sits right up top).

Are you going to strip everything back out to paint the chassis? Looks good. But better you than me.

![]() Everthing that can come out will (besides motor and trans) for any and all final welding, finishing, painting etc. Whats going to suck is hand sanding everything down with 500 grit, then wiping with Acetone or Xylene...thats where talking the girlfreind into helping me will have its benefits As much as I'm NOT looking forward to that...I VERY VERY VERY much am! I've been thinking about what to paint it lately... The chassis is getting the hammered black treatment...but not sure what I want all the body and panels to be. Originally I was going to do white as it originally was...but lately the burnt-orange color COBound painted his CJ with I think would look pretty damn good on the rig...especially with say some chrome/black raceline wheels
