Default Dodge Help

So the gauges died in my dodge. They'll be working fine and all of a sudden they'll either freeze in the position they're in or just go down to 0. The abs/air bag light comes on and the buzzer goes off like the door is open. I did the TSB fix and I noticed that it will surge a little when doing it. I usually hit the dash a few times and it's fine. Any idea what it could be? I used a Smarty and it's saying PCM ECM connection problems. I'm not sure if it's a bad ecm or not, but i'm trying to work my way there. Possibly a bad gauge cluster? I'm at a loss and really don't want to spend the money to take it to a Dodge Dealer for a giant bill. I'd rather put that money as a down payment and trade it in if it comes to it.

Any advice (besides burn it, trade it in right now or give it away) would be greatly appreciated

if hitting the dash works have you tried taking the cluster out and cleaning the contacts? that is a pretty common jeep issue from that era, those connections getting dirty and failing.

Connections are spotless and I even went as far as to replace one of the connectors per a tsb for the 99 MY. I have absolutely no clue wth is going on.

Yea. The dash flashes no bus and the overhead says CCD. The TSB only set me back $30 so it wasn't a big deal. I used a smarty and it said ECM communication error.

I was thinking about trading it in...but I have just over 3 years until it's paid off. Then it's time for a commuter! Thinking either a used M3/S4 or a 745/750Li.

"NO BUS" means that the communication system between computers is not working. I have the same problem with my dodge durango. I check all the Dodge TSB for possible recalls.with the help of our local mechanic, had a short or loose connection in the steering column, perhaps due to the fact that my father-in adjustment of the wheel every time you raise or lower the truck. The son of the steering column are so closely related, and not allow vertical movement of the steering column.

Had the same problem on a 99 neon. Had to re-solder the ribbon cable to the circuit board on the cluster. The solder joints crack over time giving you the intermittent failure. The neon acted exactly as you described.
