tranny swap emergency

well the ax-15 went crap today on my friends 90YJ with the 258 6 cylinder and he is really wanting to swap to an auto. What choices does he have as far as something that will bolt right in?
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated,thanks.

I'm curious as to why you posted what appears to be your rig in this thread. And why its got a Black Diamond sticker on it, but your sig says BDS suspension. I'm just guessing all that because the rollbar on that YJ is from a pre '92. Of course then again that YJ has a coil suspension so I guess its safe to assume he might have modified his roll-cage. Thats really off-topic though. As for swapping in an auto, the TF999 has a 23 spline output, which I think is the same as the AX-15, but I honestly have no experience with the '15. You will not get an auto tranny that will "bolt right in" though. I did the opposite and installed a manual in place of my auto, so I didn't really care what made the auto work. But what I do know is that you will need a tranny cooler (radiator should have provisions for this), some crazy shift linkage (crazy because I didn't take the time to understand mine), and I think I had a sensor or two plugged into mine that I no longer use.
