Do like JJ. Push it into Jiffy Lube and then blame them for the breakage.

from everything i read, i like the idea of going with the 60lb springs on all valves, and once you've done that you might as well go with the 4kgov. then the fun part turning all the screws and wheels!

that's kinda the thought. not going for anything crazy. just a good reliable 300ish hp. don't think that's a hard number to reach and don't need anything crazy to support it. now.. just gotta get up with the builder and work out the details.

ordered off ebay. they came from poland.

i can only imagine that he wound up with the press at some point and is able to accurately reproduce them. they feel ordinal. judd new. i emailed him back to let him know they arrived and look awesome. i also asked how he was able to do it so accurately. maybe i will hear back. he even threw in the upper right plate (responsible agency plate) even though they didn't originally come on the 715s from the factory (i guess they were put on once stationed)

also.. received word on the 5.9 build. the block is at the machine shop. hoping to get to it this week, as well as the crank. first of next week i'm shooting to get the blown motor to the guy for tear down and head work. then order the correct rebuilt kit for it. i need a new cam, and as appealing as a performance cam sounds, i want easy cranking and reliable power. so it's just going to be a tweaked/slightly beefed up factory rebuild. may end up as a 6.0 after boring. but other than that.. just solid reliable cummins power. other than a decked head, 60# springs and 4k GSK.. it'll be built around factory specs.

another cool touch i forgot about

picked this up last year from a guy in the western part of NC. NOS year of manufacture plate. came out of the original wax paper type sleeve from the DMV.

so long as you have a current plate/registration in the vehicle, you can run any rear plate you want in NC so long as the vehicle is over 35 years old.

another funny thing happened when my dad called to have it added to his insurance. the lady asked for the VIN. so my dad gave her the 5 digits on the original dash plate/title. she said 'ok, ready for the next numbers' he just replied 'that's it'. she didn't believe him at first and said that she'd need a copy of the title bc her bosses would believe she made a mistake.

there are literally 5 digits for the serial number since only 33,xxx of them were made in '67/'68. (will get stamped on the new plate as soon as we get them mounted. the delivery date will be the day we start the new motor in the truck. figured it'd be kinda fitting.

Colorado you can get the year of manufacture plates for something that's registered as a classic too. I will be doing that when I get the camaro back on the road

i'm so torn on the '55 ... i could do something like that, but when registered antique you aren't allowed to haul anything, even in the bed. i think i'm going to have to register it normally.

very jealous of the NOS 67 plate though, that couldn't have been cheap.

it's registered as a regular vehicle. could have even put weighted tags on it. just so long as you have the current registration in the truck.. year of manufacture plates can be run as long as it's older than 35 years old.

ohh.. and it was $30. and i got to pick out the numbers/condition.

That's awesome...I had collector plates on the Scrambler when I had it, even able to personalize them...so now I have COBOUND "forever" plates. $100 and I never had to register it again, if I had kept it

Of course, my daily driver plates are pushing $400 a year, each
Down this year from $500/ea

i guess i missed where you sold the 8..

my ford and old cummins are a couple hundred from weighted tags.. but i don't get second lions when hauling stuff. even though they are the lightest weighted ones you can get. hahah .

Yeah, a few people missed that...wasn't all that loud about it. Although I'm usually pretty f'n loud

Been struggling w/ it lately. Not so much regretting it being gone as much as not having my own Jeep, per se. Anyway, won't muddy up your thread w/ any details...it's gone.

LOVE this M715 build...holy sweetness!

small update

blown motor is at the shop it will be torn down and reassembled. good block and crank are already athe machine shop for measurements for the rebuild kit. hope to hear back by the end of next week on progress.. even if it's just parts being ordered and maybe the head at the shop for some valves and decking. i'm hoping i can make kit up there to watch/help with reassembly when the time comes.

You're also the guy who missed out on the first Denver meet and greet to actually happen when I was in town, then complained that no one told you about it...when we did.

I'm simply a guy who has been here 2 years less than you, but comes around more often these days .

I also have an emoticon named after me.

Yeah, I stopped caring that I wasn't told until the last minute once I found out you were there.
