If it's a deal you can't pass up, why are you asking? I've never heard of em, but if it works it works

it is called a Hickey Sidewinder. they are older. advanced adapters bought them out in like 85. the only thing i found said they were good...but it was some landcruiser board. couldn't find anything else but the history of them

125 for the whole setup...and the thing doesn't look used. he had it put up in his garage and when he saw my jeep he came over and asked if i could use a winch. we tested it out and everything worked well...I just thought i would ask

I'd say jump on it, and test it out before you need it badly.

yeah, make sure you test it out before you might need it....and it probably owuldnt be the worst thing to replace the line on it unless its new. (lets not have a line spool tension fight here like we did the other week!)

My dad had a Hickey Sidewinder on his '79 GMC pickup. The spool mounts sideways, and it's about 11-12" in diameter. It was designed to mount behind a truck bumper, between the frame rails. Part of the bumper is cut out for the cable, and a skidplate is mounted over the bottom of the winch, then angles up over the bumper. In order to make it fit on a Jeep, you'd have to get some sort of mount fabbed on top of the front bumper, as there is simply no room between the frame rails.

It has always been a good winch; we never had any problems with it whatsoever.
