Question

I just set this axle up about 6 months ago. I get a griding noise when im making right turns. It only happens when im turning right, and if im NOT on the gas or brake....so only when coasting around a right turn. The fluid is full, althoughi have not taken the cover back off yet...im using synthentic fluid...thoughts anyone?

How bad of a noise is it? The teeth will brush against each other as it slips, so some noise is normal. I hardly notice any noise from mine, but my Jeep is also louder than most. Be a little more specific about the kind of noise it's making and we might be more helpful

yep just a couple weeks ago...sounds like a wheel bearing kinda noise, but it also sounds like its coming from the right rear...on a right turn it makes no sense to me...plus the fact that it goes away when i touch the gas or brake

its defenitly sounds like an evil noise to me...im used to the clicks and pops and regular noises...but the circumstances that i have to have to make this noise just bother me

Well my 8.25 was making a whining noise under power for a while before I got it rebuilt and regeared. Turned out I had spun a carrier bearing pretty bad. That doesn't sound much of anything like yours though. Pull the diff cover and check out all the teeth and stuff on the locker, and if that's not it I'd start lookin into replacing bearings and stuff. Outer axleshaft bearing maybe?

Then check out the locker and make sure everything else is all lined up. Yer not gonna find anything unless you get in there and look. All it'll cost you is some RTV and gear lube
