I got back up to school Wednesday night and so far I've gotten out on 2 pretty good runs to test out the new setup. I've been damn happy. Still plenty of flex, and the 4.56s work really nice. And those Swampers grab like a mofo. The hill I blew my rear springs and driveshaft out on last year is even mnore washed out now. I made it up that easily and had to pull my buddy's TJ over the top. It was fun. Then today we went out on some more trails and had fun. Crawled up some nice rocky and log covered hills and went through some muddy trails. It went like a champ. Then we went over to another trail and were trying a big sand climb. Apparently they've only seen one person make it before. Well my turn came around and I wasn't worried about it cuz I didn't expect to make it. I tried 2wd for the hell of it and got about half way. Then tried 4 hi and almost made it to the top. That got me determined, so I put it in 4 low and gave er hell. I was pullin wheelies up the hill from what the guys told me, but I could hardly tell. I started losing speed aroung the turn at the top but I was still clawing up it with lots of wheel speed. Then all of a sudden my front end got knocked over into a ledge on the side. The driver side front wheel went from spinning fast as hell to a dead stop instantly and something popped fairly loud. Scared the sh1t outta me!! Well I kept moving and still had power to all 4 tires from what I could tell . I think it might have been my control arm or something that popped cuz one of the joints is kinda worn. Besides the alignment being a little tweaked it seems all good. I'm gonna pull the cover tomorrow and take a look just to be safe. I'm amazed as hell I didn't grenade the D30. I'm impressed to say the least. My hosue doesn't have internet for another day or 2, but I'll get the pics up once we get online. They're all on my computer there.

Yes I did. There are 1000+ miles on them and I did the whole heat treat thing the installer told me to do. The gears should be ok. My front diff is open, so I doubt it really did anything to it. I'll know tomorrow....

Yeah, that sand hill is hard on **** when it starts getting rutted. I only made it once and that's when I aired down to 13/10 and it was pretty smooth. I've tried when aired down to 18/16 but it's not enough. I've got real tires (TSLs) now so I'm kind of anxious to give it a whirl. If it's rough I'll still run out of gas but at least I should have some more traction without my differentials dragging.

I'm pretty sure you're the only to have made it without a front locker or limited slip. That's something to be proud of.

Awesome!!
Well I haven't gotten to pull the diff cover yet, but that'll be getting done ASAP. Here are a couple pics. I always get annoyed how cameras make everything look smaller

The people that went:

I never expected it, but that Ranger actually has some pretty sweet flex.

Poser shots of me testing my flex. Who says XJs with 35s and kinda moderate trimming can't flex?

I do need longer shocks though. It works for now....

Most of the cool sh1t we didn't get any footage of, but I have a couple cool vids I'll try and get up

You know what the sad part is... I know where all those pictures were taken. I have around 90% of the trails mapped out there. The real tight ones that require me to back up a bunch of times I didn't bother navigating (and it looks like the last time they were driven on was the miniskidder).

I didn't know you were living with Nida at the old Jeepster house. Is Matt living there too?

Chris' Ranger doesn't do too bad... starting to get a lot of trail carnage which is sad on such a new vehicle... hopefully the open diffs will go away someday.

Yeah I live with Nida. Matt's not living here. Me and Nick are the only wheelers here for now. What's been getting messed up on Chris' Ranger? I saw the tailgate and wondered why there are no bumpers, but I couldn't really tell a whole lot else. As for lockers, I know he just swapped in an 8.8 rear and he wants to get a Waggy D44 when he can for a solid axle conversion. He's gettin there

The tailgate thing is what happens when someone is trying to pull you out, mashes on the stupid pedal, and forgets they're in reverse. *SMACK* right into Chris. That's why he has no rear bumper. The front bumper just kept getting monkeyed up on Boyscout and Breakers in the snow if I remember correctly. If you look... he's also got body panel gaps gone awry... I just think it's too new to be taking out in the woods. It was in MINT condition a couple years ago. Then again, so was my truck.

Eh....mine's a 98 and it gets used. I built it for it, so I do it. I do try and keep it as nice as I can, but the paint has seen better days. Lots of custom pinstriping, but I've managed to keep body damage to a minimum

Gratiot River AKA mud flats. On Five Mile Point road there by Mohawk... turn left at Calvary Cemetery and drive by the old Allouez city dump... follow the right fork through all the trails... drive up one hill... down the next... up another... and in the valley to the left there are two sand hills one steep and one not.

Sounds about right. Off the road to 5 mile point you go down that hill with sand at the bottom. That single sand hill to the right is blocked off now, but there are those 3 to the left. I bombed up the one on the right and made it like a champ. Not sure yet if I can say the same for my front axle. I'll post a vid of Nick's truck in a few hopefully

Not sure exaclty how to post the link, but here's one of my friend goign up it. link Click on the video called "nida bombing it". That's the one. He made it just over halfway up. Just for the record, it's a 92 F-150, 4" lift, 33" TSL radials, massaged 302, etc.... Kinda sucks though, cuz the hill looks completely ***** from the vid. I don't get why they always look weak when you tape em....

OK, where are the hills in the video at? I can't remember where they're at. Sometime this summer they had equipment down there and I haven't been there yet this fall.

Here's a couple videos of the hill I'm talking about.

Jeff having trouble once he got to the top to make the turn... right front spun (open diff)

His ruts after the first video... and the holes... caused me to bounce my truck and then I'd run out of fuel (carbs suck...). I tried again after he tore it up and I was dragging differentials the whole way until a tire wasn't even touching the ground.

His second attempt

The hills we were doing are off to the right of the one you just posted. The one in your vids is blocked off now. A few hundred yards to the right are 3 sand hills. That's where we were playin around
