I am looking to put some on my TJ. Smittybilt seems to be the one all over the net. Are the any good, or is there another brand I should look at?

Hopefully someone will see this by accident.

haha, jeep talk in jeep talk ... who knew!

yeah, with anything ****tybilt, you get what you pay for. they are good parts for the money, but thinner softer steel then others and the powdercoat tents to scratch off much easier. i was going to buy the GenRight stuff before i bought my bender to just make my own.

i'd also recommend a set that keeps the factory inner fender. sounds trivial, but the sheet ones intrude a lot more generally and you have to re-mount everything.

I put the smittybilts on a flip jeep once because they were cheaper/easier than buying replacement fender and painting. They were much cheaper than the others iirc.

You trim your existing fender and it kind of mounts to it like 6dof said. Works good if the fenders on there are damaged already. Mounted pretty easily.

They looked good. Not strong enough to actually drag across the rocks, but good enough for a street to moderate rig.

You will need to re-locate the stock turn lamps. I bought some cheap ones from a JK and put them in the grill below the headlights.

Turn lamps looked kinda like this (not mine, google image):

The wires reached and it plugged right in, was cheaper than the other options.

That's what I am doing, flipping this Jeep. It has rusted fenders, and it'll be cheaper to do these than buy and paint OEM style fenders.

I will probably just go with the ****tybuilt, since I don't plan on using the tube on offensive trees.

I am going to try to move the stock blink-blinks to the grill. We'll see if I am smart enough.

i've always really liked the 3/4" grommet mount LEDs. on the TJ i used both them and 2 lights just like these and just screwed it thru a stock fender mount hole in teh side of the grill. one is a running, one is a turn.

Ah, see you're flipping it...so you got what you need - Shyttybuilt [/thread]

Genright. TNT Customs. Poison Spyder. If you were keeping it.

I miss the tough Smittybuilt products of the 1980s-90s.

But they are fenders, whatever you get will get banged up. Cost benefit analysis would probably make them adequate for my needs, but your mileage may vary. Those Genright ones look awesome, but have to factor in painting them.
