You nailed it!

I'm quite happy w/ the 3.6 and 5.38s on 40s as well. Would I love a Hemi, or an LS, sure. The cost far outweighs the gain...in my pocketbook anyway. But mine isn't a business write-off either

Right? I was doing some work on the TJ yesterday, was looking at the rear kids seats I put in. I started the build before my son was born....he's now 8 and my daughter is almost 4.

Same here. But if I find a way to keep it then I will, but for now the plan is to sell it to make room, and build the JKU.

Man, makes me think, my oldest is in her first year of college, she was born when I still had my '87 YJ...moved to an XJ, came here, things went sideways from there

Awesome pics and scenery. I’d love to get out there one day.

Is it really OKAY?? I find that if you don’t have a v8 anything over 37’s is just gutless. 40s are big and heavy. I understand gearing goes a long way, but are you just fooling yourself into thinking it’s fine.

Nope, serious. Dead serious. I talked to a lot of people about it when I was considering this one. Yes, it's OK. Is it a V8, no...was it an added $30k upgrade, NO!

Has no problem getting up to 80, doesn't downshift like mad like the old 3.8 stock, much less lifted. I'm pretty impressed, and NEVER would've kept it, much less driven it home, if it wasn't satisfactory.

Come drive it, I think you'd be surprised. I certainly was.

I was ok with my jeep on 40s and 4.10s and a 4.0 v8 35s and 4.10s is much more fun though...

Every time I think about trading in my Ram on something I come to the realization that anything I'd want would be slower or I'd be giving up on having the lifted vehicle experience. A Wrangler, or even the Wrangler pickup when it comes out, sounds cool but without a V8 I really lose interest.

That said, it sounds like Dodge is bringing the Dakota back on the Wrangler pickup platform, if they stick a V8 in it again like they did the last one it would be hard to turn away!

I'm pretty sure AEV charges that much but you are starting with a new engine and transmission usually, plus the conversion parts area all fully engineered and designed to go together, no cobbling together bits.

I'm sure he'd like to keep his driveshaft IN the Jeep after a few miles, right?

Yep, I have a local shop that could do it, even a guy out west that is a SEMA genius, for $20-25...but that's just it, reliable Hemi, fully engineered and integrated to work properly...I'm not going to do some sort of backyard garage hack on a vehicle of this nature. Have you never researched a V8 swap?

Hell, an LS isn't much cheaper.

I've got a buddy of mine that is taking his JKU down to MOTECH in Vegas next week to get a new 6.2L L94. It includes an HD radiator, Camaro SS fan, new 241J transfer case, 6L80 trans, and labor for $20,500.

Yep, so there is that $20k mark...still out of reasonable consideration when it comes down to budget. Fun, hell yes...realistic on my salary, nope. I'm lucky I have what I have

The guy I bought the Jeep from actually did that...after he took a serious bath on the sale price

Honestly, I'd love a V8, but I am pretty happy w/ the way it runs and drives w/ a 3.6. My buddy w/ a 6.4 in his JK even says it has some pep for a 6.
